About Us
Clinic Africa builds and funds new clinics in rural and slum communities that have limited access to healthcare, complementing services already provided by government, religious groups, and other charities.

Our Approach
The clinics are owned by Clinic Africa and run by the practising doctor, who offers patients consultations, drugs and health tests and charge according to ability to pay. We prioritise newly qualified doctors who want to build a career in their home country as an alternative to emigration

In 2005, we opened two clinics with 15 patient beds in Kampala, Uganda. During 2006, we plan on expanding in Uganda before opening in adjacent countries.

We have four Trustees based in the UK, responsible for fundraising and overseeing operations in Uganda. Working in Uganda we have two dedicated friends of Clinic Africa, responsible for finding new sites for clinics and qualified doctors to run them.

Clinic Africa Doctors
We target recently qualified doctors who are most likely to leave the country to work overseas. Around 150 Doctors graduate annually from Ugandan Medical schools and approximately 30% of doctors emigrate in a ‘brain drain’ within 3 years of qualifying.
