Originally
from Mbarara district where his parents were farmers, Lawrence
left home at 12 to study in Kampala. He has practiced medicine
since 2003 in various clinics since graduating from the Mbale
School of Clinical Medicine. Lawrence wanted to progress his
career and his options were to borrow many years salary to fund
a clinic, work for 3+ years to try for a good post in a government
hospital, or emigrate to the US or UK.
Clinic Africa
has enabled Lawrence to stay in Kampala and run his own clinic.
He now helps support his mother and four brothers who are still
living in the village, and his brother who is studying at university
in Kampala
